A project of Divertimento Ensemble, Milan (IT)
Workshop for children aged 8-10
Milan (IT)
Second year
In 2012 Divertimento Ensemble started the project Giocare la Musica: an annual workshop for children with no previous musical education, aged 8-10.
Every year a group of children (different children for each edition) has attended a workshop from November to May and has then performed two new pieces composed for them, together on the stage with Divertimento Ensemble and its conductor Sandro Gorli.
New scores by Daniele Ghisi, Federico Gardella, Marco Momi, Clara Iannotta, Stefano Bulfon, Alessandro Solbiati, Daniela Terranova, Roberto Andreoni were thus written and performed.
Giocare la Musica turns now into a biennial project: during the first year (November 2017-May 2018) 57 children of an elementary school in Milan are getting acquainted with the language of music in general and of contemporary music specifically, experimenting the production of sounds with different instruments, enjoying timbres and rhythms with the tutor of the workshop Giulia Farina, the composers Simone Corti and Stefano Gervasoni, and Divertimento Ensemble’s musicians. The composers Corti and Gervasoni will attend many lessons and will be inspired by the children’s aptitudes while composing.
Moreover, the children themselves will create the text of the new pieces which is being composed by the two mentioned composers, which will bring on stage the difficult theme of Integration (the continuation of last year’s topic Migration).
At the end of the first year’s workshop (May 2018) a performance at the school takes place, only for pupils and parents.
During the second year (November 2018-May 2019) the same children learn the two new scores by Corti and Gervasoni, again with the help of the tutor, the composers and the musicians of Divertimento Ensemble, and perform them in a public concert with Divertimento Ensemble, under the baton of Sandro Gorli.
The concert takes place within 2019 Rondò concert season.
